The Final Chapter! This is it – the last poetry book in the mixtape series. Today, ‘The Music Was Just Getting Good’ is available wherever you buy your books.
In my latest poetry book, I've returned to the themes you expect to see from me: mental health, hope, and grief. Grief isn't confined to death alone. We grieve for who we used to be, for moments that never found their way into existence, for the physical places that hold our memories, and most profoundly, for our people. People who've departed earth, but also those who walked away and those we had to let go. It's a profound exploration of the multifaceted nature of loss and transformation.
Whether you discover “The Music Was Just Getting Good” on the shelves of your local Barnes & Noble or make the purchase online wherever you usually order books, please know that it means so much to me. I would love to see pictures! Tag me on Instagram (@thealiciacook)! And, of course, your reviews on retailer sites hold significant value and are greatly appreciated, as they help with buzz and placement!
I extend my heartfelt thanks to all who have eagerly anticipated this book since its announcement a few months ago. It already has over 60 early reviews!
Today, the book is yours.
PS. While I've been playfully making jokes about the heaviness of this book and "sad girl winter," I want to acknowledge that it's a real thing. I genuinely hope that everyone is prioritizing self-care during these winter months!
